Doordash Motion design

We partnered with DoorDash to create a motion design video that brings their design thinking pillars to life, starting from one core principle: design connects.

Inspired by the theme “design connects” and the idea of “connecting dots”, we developed an abstract, conceptual visual narrative that reflects the collective nature of the design process. We had fun playing with DoorDash’s vibrant color palette, which naturally aligns with the Illo aesthetics, and crafted a thoughtful motion design approach using flowing lines and expressive typography. The overall abstract and conceptual feel of the video is grounded by DoorDash’s beautiful brand photography, reinforcing a strong brand identity. Inspired by the theme “design connects / connecting dots”, we developed both the script and visual storytelling to serve as a design manifesto for the DoorDash Design team—and perhaps even beyond. This video doesn’t just tell what they do—it shows how deeply they care: about craft, about solving real human problems, and about building experiences that support the local economy. We also chose to create a collective narrative, using multiple voices that complete each other’s sentences—emphasizing the collaborative nature of the design process and the power of collaborative design.

We used the line to guide the story — connecting dots, people, and ideas throughout the video. It became our visual thread, linking scenes and concepts while echoing the fluid, collaborative nature of the design process.

Everyday needs

One of our goals was to create something that the DoorDash Design team could feel proud of—a piece that reflects not just what they do, but how deeply they care. DoorDash isn’t only focused on delivering a service; it’s committed to design at every level. That’s why we highlighted specific design features—like the custom typography, the color palette, and even the corner radius—treating them as intentional parts of the story.
